The translation and localization effort
One of the goals for the Linux for schools project is to have all software available in the local languages. For some languages the localizations being are readily available (e.g. German) but for others (e.g the Norwegian languages Bokmål, Nynorsk and Sami) we needed to start almost from scratch).

News
- The latest Skolelinux prerelease (40) now has a the installer localized for dutch, french, german, latvian, sami, and danish. This is in addition to the already present localizations for nynorsk, and Bokmål.
- Brazil joins the list of countries with a Skolelinux team, brazilian coordinator is Frederico Goncalves Guimaraes.
- A French Skolelinux team is leaded by OFSET - Hilaire Fernandes
. - The July developer meeting during DebCamp was a success: The installation support for French, German and Dutch was completed. A new Spanish team was created with first 1, then 3 and finally 6 people, they're working on support for both Spanish and Catalan. A second Belgian developer also joined. And finally there was lots of bugfixing and much work on the new user-administration system.

- Six translators participated in our translator gathering in Time from the 21st to the 23rd of February.
- Six translators participated in our translator gathering in Oslo from the 4th to the 6th of October.
- List of country names in English and Norwegian.
- List of X11 colour names in English and Norwegian Bokmål.
- Five translators participated in our translator gathering in Oslo from the 2nd to the 4th of August.
- New localization guidelines for both Nynorsk and Bokmål are available.
- The translators' manual (Norwegian) is in place. It is not completely done, but it will be updated continously.

The localization and translation teams can always use more helping hands. Either to do translation (of webpages, documentation, programs' user interfaces) or to help advocate/install Skolelinux at local schools.
